Dr. Burcu Akdag was born in Ankara. She graduated from Karabuk Anatolian High School in 2004 and from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2010 with honors. Having passed the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS), she started her specialization in “Gynecology and Obstetrics” at Zekai Tahir Burak Women’s Health Training and Research Hospital and became “Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist” in 2015.

She completed her compulsory service obligation by working as a Gynecologist at Agri State Hospital between 2015-2017. Then she worked in a private hospital for a year.

Dr. Burcu Akdag Ozkok worked with as an Associate Professor Suleyman Eserdag at Hera Clinic between 2019-2022. During this period, she was specifically interested in the treatment of sexual dysfunctions and genital aesthetic operations-cosmetic gynecology practices.

Dr. Ozkok, who passed the exam organized by the European Academy of Sexual Medicine (ESSM) in 2020 and was awarded the title of “Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine” (FECSM), is also a member of the ISAGSS (International Society of Aesthetic Genital Surgery and Sexology) Association. She took the position of “vice president” between 2020-2022. Dr. Burcu Akdag Ozkok gave training to her colleagues on the intricacies of genital aesthetics and cosmetic gynecology as an “international trainer” in the international “Hands on Master Courses” organized 8 times in 3 years under the umbrella of ISAGSS. Dr. Ozkok makes presentations on genital aesthetics and cosmetic gynecology at many different national congresses every year and gives trainings in this field on different online platforms.

Another field of study of Dr. Burcu Akdag is Functional Medicine in Gynecology. Since her student years, she has been reading about the root causes of diseases and adopting a holistic treatment model. Akdag; In 2019 she joined the “Functional Medicine Platform” founded by Prof. Dr Mehmet Mahir Atasoy as a “Science Board Member” and started to give lectures in the trainings of the platform for physicians, pharmacists and dietitians.

In 2020, by organizing the functional medicine training organized specifically for a branch in Turkey for the first time, Dr. Burcu Akdag Ozkok pioneered the introduction of functional medicine to many colleagues in the gynecology community with this symposium.

In addition to all these, Dr. Akdag also provides consultancy to many pharmaceutical companies and organizes trainings.

Bioequivalent hormone replacement therapy in polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome, pre-pregnancy period (preconceptional period), early menopause, perimenopausal period and menopause. These are the main diseases and processes that Burcu Akdag Ozkok evaluated within the scope of functional medicine. Aiming for women to age healthy with a holistic approach, Dr. Özkok sees body-hormone-mind health as a whole; In this context, she evaluates all areas separately from the nutrition of its patients to their sexual life.

Applying special treatment protocols with a similar approach in patients with “chronic vaginal candida” and “genital lichen sclerosus”, Dr. Burcu Akdag; especially in these two problems, she develops and applies special treatment models that she applies together with functional medicine applications and regenerative cosmetic gynecological treatments.

One of the 5 founding members of the Women Physicians Education Support Foundation (KAHEV), which was officially established in 2018, Dr. Akdag is still a member of the board of directors of the foundation. Providing trainings for the benefit of the foundation within the scope of KAHEV Academy, Dr. Akdag attaches great importance to the ability of every child and young person to study with equal rights.
